For a major construction and renovation company, TPS produced the perforated sheets for an architectural project: the Dunkirk ice rink.
The project represents almost 3,000 m² of perforated sheets in 3 mm 5754 aluminium, spread over more than 1,340 sheets.
The special feature: no two sheets are identical. The random distribution of the perforations was built up piece by piece so that, once the sheets are assembled, they form a continuous fresco depicting the grooves left by skates on the ice.
Beyond the technical achievement in punching, the real challenge was to ensure that each piece could find its exact position on the façade.
TPS therefore provided individual packaging and identification, with a unique reference for each sheet and a complete packing list.
The sheets were packed in a precise order so that the painter could unpack them for painting, then repack them in reverse order, handing the installer a set ready to use on site.
Each sheet thus becomes a piece of a genuine industrial jigsaw: the installation teams simply follow the marking and layout defined to recreate the fresco on the façade.
A project where TPS’s performance lies not only in its ability to produce 1,340 different parts, but in its control of the whole project: perforation, marking, packaging, traceability and logistics.
