For a major construction company, TPS supported the production of an architectural façade for the extension of Nice airport, with a twofold challenge: meeting the technical constraints of the façade while achieving a diamond-point visual effect after bending.
The project required 1.5 mm aluminium to be perforated with a graduated pattern of Ø4, Ø5, Ø8, Ø11, Ø14, Ø17 and Ø20 mm holes, combined with Ø6 mm fixing holes, then cut and bent to a specific isosceles triangle geometry.
The difficulty was making perforation, hole distribution, cutting and bending work together to achieve the desired architectural result.
Rather than looking for a standard solution, TPS worked directly with its customer: trials, adjustments to the perforation layout, validation of material behaviour and nesting optimisation to limit offcuts and control manufacturing costs.
The result: a façade that combines lightness, performance and aesthetics, with a particularly striking visual effect once the elements are bent.
A project in which the customer’s façade expertise and TPS’s industrial expertise in perforation and sheet processing came together to make possible a solution that went beyond the usual standards.
