Our core expertise
A century of expertise in metal perforation
Since 1899, TPS has built its expertise around industrial perforation. This history has shaped know-how that today rests on two complementary skills: perforation and tooling.
Home » Perforation & tooling
What sets us apart: we have both the production equipment and the ability to develop the tooling needed to run it.
Our job is to turn a customer requirement into an industrial solution, controlling the choice of process, press and tooling right through to production of the part.
Capabilities
TPS can perforate thicknesses from 0.3 to 15 mm and produce products with an open area of 2.5 to 75%, depending on the material, geometry and product characteristics.
We perforate both sheets and coils, which means we can meet the needs of cut parts as well as high-volume continuous production.
Our expertise covers mild steel, coated steels (galvanised, electro-galvanised or pre-painted), stainless steel, aluminium, copper and its alloys. Subject to study, we can also consider certain non-metallic materials such as PVC, wood or composites.
This ability to work with very different materials, thicknesses and configurations means the process can be adapted to the real constraints of each application.
Production
Our expertise also shows in our ability to industrialise recurring production.
On average, TPS produces 1.5 million linear metres of continuous coil perforation and 400,000 perforated sheets every year.
These volumes represent hands-on industrial experience of series perforation and repetitive production, while retaining the ability to handle specific items.
From prototype to recurring industrial production, we adapt the process and tooling to what the product needs.
Tooling
TPS today has a stock of more than 600 perforating tools developed over its history.
This diversity gives us a large base of existing solutions and lets us respond quickly to many configurations.
But when no tool matches your needs, we can go further: design and manufacture dedicated tooling.
A particular geometry, a specific pattern or a non-standard configuration: your product is not limited to the tools already available.
Your requirement is not in our tool stock? We can create the tool that will produce it.
Equipment
Our equipment includes four wide-bed perforating presses from 160 to 400 tonnes, plus a 400-tonne press dedicated to heavy-gauge applications.
This range of equipment lets us adapt the perforating force to the product characteristics: material, thickness, pattern geometry and production requirements.
The choice of press goes hand in hand with the choice of tooling, to achieve the best balance between technical feasibility, quality, repeatability and productivity.
Process
The performance of a perforation depends on the balance between the material, its thickness, the geometry and pitch of the pattern, the open area, the tooling and the perforating force.
Our experience allows us to factor in these parameters from the design stage to determine the configuration best suited to the product and how it is produced.
This control is particularly important for technical items and recurring production, where process stability and repeatability are essential.
Development
Our long-standing expertise relies on industrial facilities that keep evolving.
TPS regularly upgrades its equipment and technologies to improve its industrial performance and meet today’s requirements for quality, productivity and flexibility.
We thus combine experience built up since 1899 with constantly evolving production resources.
Our strengths
Your perforation is not in our tool stock? We can develop the tooling required.
Your product needs a particular configuration? We study the right process.
Your requirement is moving from prototype to large series? We adapt the industrial solution to the volumes.
